pats look good
pky
I didnt end up watching most of the detroit game because the patriots were on tonight. and they looked great. dillon destroyed them in the first 10 minutes alone. our defense shut them down all game, we stopped the run, and as usual favre was contained and exposed. he's really not a good quarterback anymore. he might have been a few years ago, but now, he's just hurting that team completely. it's like cal ripken's "consecutive games starting" streak. after a certain point, no one cares, and the only people who do are the morons who are either bandwagon fans, or the national media... who last I checked, were one and the same.
brady looks good. I dont think he looks great yet, as he made some suspect throws, but he's getting to rare form. He'll be nasty once the season starts. mangini seemed like he had full control of the game, as the fudge Packers didnt really get to do anything competently. poole had a really terrible play, which reinforces my reservations about his ability to be consistent this year. He is a veteran, but even in 02, when he was out there, he got burned a few times, which is a few times too many for someone with his experience. I think he can be good, but I sort of doubt it. Eugene Wilson and Rodney Harrison continue in their pro bowler fashions, absolutely demolishing anything in their way. it's outstanding to watch. our front 3 are disgusting- ty warren, vince wilfork and seymour will bulldoze any line that they face this year. i firmly believe that. add in monty beisel who's been great as far as I can tell being an ILB. he's been a great surprise. Chad Scott seems to be doing ok as well, but I didnt really scout his play that much. troy brown looked decent... i hope givens is ok. i'm assuming he just got the wind knocked out of him. what a 7th round gem. him and brady. pure gems. samuel looked decent also.
on other great news, the 5th annual jimmiy fund telethon was today, and last i checked, they were approaching hte million dollar mark around 4 oclock or osmething. which is great news. I hadnt seen their commercials in the movie theaters in such a long time. it's great to see that they're on to bigger and better things. some of the stories that I heard this morning on EEI were just amazing. those people do God's Work. there's nothign more admirable in this world than fighting cancer.
as for the sox. our pitching is shit. that's about all there is to say about them. i still love watching them, i still think they'll win the division. but that's on the condition that they stop sucking. if we keep playing the way we do, and if we cant destroy these teams in this next home game stretch, we're done. there is no way we can get into the postseason with this terrible pitching, and if we somehow squeak in, there's no way we're winning the first round. as in all other sports, defense wins championships. in baseball, pitching is defense. if you're pitching sucks, you're through. it's all about matchups in the postseason. i understand that we have like three 3s, and two 4s as our pitching staff. i think clement as his best is a 2, wake a 3, wells a 3, miller a 3, arroyo a 3/4, papelbon MAYBE a 2 if he continues the way he pitches, and schilling a 1. they are clearly not at their best. not even close. thank God for our OPS, becuase if not for that, we would be 10 games out. that's the only thing that's keeping us in first. i keep hearing about how we should be happy that we're in first, and that despite not having a closer and an ace, we're in great shape being in first at this point in the season. bullshit. that's a loser's attitude. if we keep going at the pace we're going, we're done. there is no way you win ANYTHING with the pitching staff we tote. i havent even gotten to the so called "bull pen" we have. they're a joke. timlin is a suspect closer, albeit his recent arguable success or "non failures." he has looked brutal at times though. myers will remain a 75% dependable reliever. bradford is a tossup. he can be on or off at any given point. and wow, that's about it for the bullpen. i take no solace knowing that foulke is coming back. and furthermore, he doesnt want a rehab start. please. lets get real folks. he's not touching the BIGS until he does something to show he still has skills in pawtucket. if he gets torched, it'll be because pedroia lit him up. and that, i'd be ok with, because he's our 2B of the future. bring up youkilis to replace this horrible HORRIBLE millar character we tote on the field, and have him just cheerlead and blow manny on the bench. his meander down the first base line the other day was just fantastic.
it's kind of sad, but people were talking about how if there was a manny for arod trade straight up, that they'd take it. after some of the crap manny's pulled and continues to pull this year, i might be inclined to agree. there are several conflits of interest though. arod still is a bitch, but he's a bitch who tries hard at least. too hard sometimes. i'd rather have that than this manny character crawl his way to 1B on a double play ball that even olerud might have beaten. that's unacceptable. play the damn game. his offense is great, dont get me wrong. if he runs to 1B without being a bitch, i'd have no problem with him. i'll take his retard errors. i'll take his "hide int eh wall" crap." all that i can deal with. just run to 1B like you have a purpose.
--------FOR THE RECORD aka ten things i know i know--------
-i have no confidence in foulke.
-i dont think schilling will return to his 2004 self.
-the way our pitching staff has been, in order to win anything meaningful this year (no jinxes...) schilling MUST return to his former self... OR ...
-the pitching wakes up, stops throwing wild pitches, stops walking people, stops hitting batters, stop throwing meatballs, and schilling can be a shell of his 2004 self, and we'll still have a chance to win.
-the red sox will take the division
-the last sox yankees series will be an amazing series as the sox will humiliate the yankees and knock them out of wild card contention.
-papelbon will emerge as a true force
-the patriots will have a great season
-brady is the best quarterback in the NFL
-eli manning will continue to suck this year
-his sister will continue to lose to the patriots
-i cant wait for the NFL season to start
-this is the best time of the year, starting in a few weeks.
have a good one.

i almost forgot. ben watson looks terrific. everyone keeps saying how good, fast, athletic he is, and i never believed them. but i'm starting to. he looks like he can tear this league up if he stays healthy enough to. the patriots are stacked. the only thing we need now is for madden to burn and for 2k6 to come out.
