the lone bright spot on an otherwise dreary sports day is the yankee defeat in toronto

- "Embree gave up yet another costly run in the eighth. "
- "Gary Sheffield dismissed the possibility of playing right field again this season before yesterday's finale against the Blue Jays. Jaret Wright and Jason Giambi needed to be removed due to injury by the bottom of the fourth. Jorge Posada, always a dubious baserunner, committed one of his all-time gaffes"
- "when Jeter took a called strike three yesterday to end a 6-5 loss to the Blue Jays, with Robinson Cano on second, it was the eighth time this season he'd made the last out of a game with the tying run on base."
- "Sheff to DH the rest of the way. Sheffield said the thigh problem is robbing him of his power at the plate. 'Just when I am ready to explode I plant my left leg and want to go forward but can't,' Sheffield said. 'I am doing everything right until that point.'
Joe Torre has started Ruben Sierra (three games), Matt Lawton (three games) and Bubba Crosby (four games) in the 10 tilts Sheffield hasn't been able to play right. Crosby by far has been the most productive, going 6-for-19 (.316). Lawton is hitless in 10 at-bats and Sierra, who started Saturday and yesterday against Blue Jay lefties, is 1-for-10 (.100)."
In other news, some dumb yankee fans are trying to start up a Boston Hater clothing line. I never liked Yankee Hater that much, but the one thing that it had going for it was the smart setup of the the NY/YH symbol. These guys in NY though have no clue.
