"In good days and bad, Pierce has always been a community guy. Here’s an example of how seriously he takes it. After his triple-double in a 104-101 win over the 76ers last Wednesday in which his 3-pointer nailed it down, a small army of media-ites was waiting for him. Before taking questions, Pierce yelled across the room to Ryan Gomes, who had a career-high 29 points in the game. Pierce wasn’t congratulating him. He was reminding the rookie he had a 9 a.m. community service obligation at a school."
