there is another scenario, which is the opposite to the headline. the anti no nuts no glory, when one has too much "nuts" which results in eventual humiliation. for example, these manny to the anaheim angels rumors. are you crazy? i like that we get kotchman and two other guys. but please. they're eventual AL West Champions without manny in the lineup. you want to run against a team that sports a vladimir guerrero and a manny ramirez in the same lineup? you wanna tempt the fates? that's past the point of foolish. if you thought the ramirez ortiz punch was nasty, just wait for the guerrero ramirez punch. if it doesnt slightly dwarf ramirez/ortiz, it will at the very least match it. you want that? hells no. the one thing that neutralizes that is great shutout pitchers 1-5, which no one has. you want to see failure? lets pit our 3-5 pitchers against vlad and manny, see what happens. we'll run a simulation on MVP Baseball. it wont work out. clement vs angels. wrong. arroyo vs angels. wrong. pap might be able to handle them, but i wouldnt tempt the fates like that. and with wake, who knows what can happen. again, i wouldnt tempt the fates. if schilling's in rare form, i'll put my cash on schill. beckett, well that remains to be seen how good he is. this of course, assumes we dont need a bullpen. haha. i wont even waste your time "analyzing" how badly the RS bullpen would get rocked by a vlad manny 3-4 punch. more like a 3-4 bitchslap. manny for abreu. make it happen. put manny in the hoeful NL. no nuts no glory.

that said, i like the manny for abreu trade better. everyone says that abreu might be a bitch, but that's ok. manny dwarfs him. plus abreu is a better all around player. stolen bases is a bonus. put him in RF. move nixon to left. takes care of that problem. now, all we'd have to do is get ichiro to play center for us...

about joe thornton. fine with me. he did nothing. the whole 8 years he was here, we only advanced past the first round once I think. i dunno. was never that big a bruins fan until two years ago, and would have been a big one last year, except there was no hockey. i'm not sure i care that much anymore. but i'm more intrigued now than ever. it's becoming more and mroe clear that defense doesnt/wont win championships in the current age NHL- offense does/will. we need to emulate what ottawa's doing and just do it. no nuts no glory. and this is coming from a guy who knows nothing about hockey.

ugh, do we really want to talk more michael irvin here? what a douche. who cares. he's been irrelevant forever. let him continue to think he's not. irvin lied. simple. ever see a man collapse at the sight of facing responsibility? michael irvin folks. it's as vintage as he gets. that's a pure no nuts no glory example right there. grow a pair MICHAEL.
