i actually like theo's approach this year
Other than the emphasis on defense this year, I actually appreciated how Theo stuck with the rookies. Morons around here keep bitching about how if you dont spend the money, you cant win. all of a sudden, when the Red Sox lose, they all seem to become spineless yankee fans. go to new york then, they're full of them there. asses. WEEI has become a breeding ground (actually, that's not true, it's always been) for these spineless bitches. in years past, everyone's always bitched about how we're a better team beacuse we dont pay for the biggest free agents, and how we're becoming a different ball club, focused on the pricniples in Moneyball. this is all good, until the sox lose. well, i'm glad they stuck with the kids. I've wanted to see what the kids can do for hte longest time. ep and i were discussing this- I asked him if he felt that the red sox front office overrated its prospects. he said no, but that the fans always did. count me in that group. The kids clearly need work. But we also saw what hte front office has been talking about for years. they showed some serious glimpses of dominance and brilliance this year. I'm glad we didnt get those big free agents. i'm still incredibly displeased that the yankees got lidle and abreu, but whatever. i dont think it would have been the right thing for the sox to sell out and pick them up. i still dont get how the yankees give up 4 prospects for those two, but again, whatever. let's hope that those prospects turn to badasses. AND TO ALL THE FANS WHO ARE STILL BITCHING, STFU about how the yankees want to win more than the sox. you guys are all fags, and so are the yankees, so if you want a team that buys their ways out of their own problems, go migrate to new york. your stupid asses belong there.
with almost NO PRESSURE on the Sox now, and entering the time of hte year when they normally TEAR SHIT UP, i think the sox can still get the wildcard and save a little face. again, i dont think they'll go anywhere in the playoffs this year, but big/little picture wise, you look at 03, and you realize that 03 had to happen in order for them to win in 04. barring more cosmically idiot moves from our manager, the collapse this year may be crucial in taking all the pressure off them- i mean, when fans like ep and I begin to almost feel sympathy for a team like them, it's pretty clear that there are no expectations left for this year. with a makeshift rotation where it is, but with varitek back and healthy, this is oddly probably the best place for the team to be- these prospects from AAA can really retool their game and learn from tek right now. the sox could surge and find themselves seriously contending for the wildcard.
