overreaction
What is with the overreaction to the Jets making the final score close? One miraculous (read: lucky) play by Cotchery combined with a career-defining individual effort by Coles does not mean that the Jets "outexecuted" the Patriots as Pennington was saying after the game. Don't get me wrong. If the Jets had pulled out the win, I would give them props for doing so. Sure, football is a game of big plays. It doesn't matter how handily you're dominating field position or the line of scrimmage or whatnot if your opponent makes 4 or 5 outstanding plays to win the game. That being said, the Jets did not "dig a hole" for themselves in the first half. The Patriots simply rendered them helpless. And in the second half, the Jets did no execution of their offense besides a few medium passes that ended as miracle TDs. And most importantly, in the end no one was seriously afraid that the Jets would actually win the game, especially on the Patriots sideline.
I guess though, Jets fans need something to grasp with respect to their garbage team. So if making a mountain out of a molehill does it for them than so be it.
